Strictlykings – Official statement.

Closing down.

It is with sadness and reservation that we have to announce the closure of Strictlykings, with immediate effect. Due to a number of reasons; lack of funding, lack of resources and a lack of time to bring the brand back up to where it needs to be we have taken the decision that closure is the best option at this moment in time.

All current stock will be sold off in a final sale. The website will remain visible for the foreseeable future, but online payments via the website will not be accepted. Anyone interested in buying any of the sale stock should email info@strictlykings.co.uk with any orders or enquiries.

The strictlykings blog, facebook page and twitter will continue to operate in their current forms.
The sale can be viewed by clicking on the ‘SALE!’ tab on this blog.

This is not the end, just a pause to proceedings..

Thanks to everyone for their support over the last 10 years.

Peace
Strictlykings fam.

Double Goose Christmas party

They’ve called it the Double Goose Christmas Event.. but we all know its a party!

For those Lucky kids in New York, the boys from Paris, are putting on a night of music and heavy leather, fur trimmed fun, with giveaways galore with every purchase.

An in-store and an after party at a local bar aswell..

Anyone in the vicinity should definitely go say a Christmas hello to Thomas and the boys.

Born at the start of the Eighties in New York, the make Double Goose rapidly benefits from the emergence of Hip Hop in the United States. Very quickly adopted by the movement pioneer such as Run
DMC, LL Cool J and Rakim, the brand became increasingly fashionable with the ‘connoisseurs’. The Double Goose becomes an international symbol. Recognised as an Old School ‘must have’. The Double Goose carries a history, and the values of a cultural movement still very present and alive. Nowadays a generic term used for all leather puffer jackets, Double Goose crystallizes an urban and high class aesthetic. Much appreciated by consumers aware of quality, style and to historical codes. Double Goose is a rare and urban fashion landmark.

The Electric – Your Beautiful (Video)

The official spiel:
The Electric are a new group spearheaded by the renowned beat-taster DJ Vadim. Known for travelling the globe in search of the best musical influences, Vadim has united artists, Sabira Jade and lyricistsl MC Pugs Atomz, to make a truly international collective.

Taken from their debut album ‘Life is Moving’ – out early next year – ‘Beautiful’ is the groups first single, a love song that grooves with your soul, Beautiful is a track that serves as much as thank you to fans as a reminder of the collective positivity that unites us all.

Sabiras warm vocals, both uplifting and soulful, draw you in close, while Pugs romantic wordplay and charismatic shout-outs subtly enhance the smooth style while adding some unexpected twists and turns to the dimension of sound. Lyricist and singer Yarah Bravo is the perfect collaborative choice, her poetic addition soaked in tender attitude pushes the single over the edge of super-coolness.

As if that wasn’t enough, our ears are treated to the recognisably eclectic production from Vadim himself. Book your mind on a one way ticket to a throwback time when dreamy synths and late-night cocktails were common place, as DJ Vadim manages to seamlessly unify a love for retro west coast hip hop, soul, and 80s disco with an infectious futuristic sound, resulting in a laidback track that grooves with your soul and promises to never let go.

Released on Vadim and Yarah Bravos own label Organically Grown Sounds (O.G.S), the lead single perfectly illustrates the commitment the duo have to releasing quality independent music directly to the masses.

To celebrate its release, the track comes with a string of inspiring remixes from some of the best known, and unknown, producers around for full details please visit The Electric website.

The single includes remixes by Memory 9, Benji Boko, H3ADphON3Z and Suonho.

Strictlykings spiel:
A real nice track from vadim and his cast of emcees and vocalists, and as always features Yarah Bravo (always dope!).. and also features some footage of East Ham high street!.. thats my old stomping ground, so extra props for that!.. check the video below to see and hear it all for yourselves, also check out the video for ‘Running’, which also features shots of East Ham and Upton Park, home to the might West Ham United!

Bedroom rockers – an article by Chris Aylen

Without a doubt, ‘Bedroom Rockers’ is one of the most interesting and desirable books of its genre. Too often, photographic monographs become one-flick wonders, with little depth beyond each image. But this book dug a bit deeper than others and has become the definitive study of the secret world of vinyl hoarding.

Kleine Jay and Cartes

I was recently lucky enough to receive a gift (a birthday present!) from the excellent ‘Patta’ store in the Netherlands, a dope graphic tshirt, accompanying the tshirt was a free cd sampler for the upcoming LP by Dutch hip hop duo ‘Kleine Jay and Cartes’. a seriously dope slice of hip hop, and something any fan of the genre should think about checking out. some people dont really go in for non-english language hip hop, but my view has always been if it sounds dope, its all good.. always been a big fan of french, swedish and japansees hip hop, and now i can add dutch to that list.
